No Kangaroos is made up of five students from the Austrian College of Business, who are 17 years old and competing in their first ever Ironman Creative Competition.

As for the origin of the team’s name, member Adrian Ernst said they named the team this way to distinguish themselves from Australia. “No Kangaroos” is a unique culture in Austria, as many foreign tourists confuse Austria with Australia, and when they come to Austria, they ask where they can find kangaroos, which is why the Austrians put up “No Kangaroos” signs everywhere (in stores, etc.)

No Kangaroos said that they did not expect to participate in the Smart Ironman Creative Competition, but they were pleasantly surprised by the scale and structure of the competition, and they were very happy to participate in the Smart Ironman competition.

They also mentioned that they had studied the five theme prompts of the main task before joining the Smart Ironman Creative Competition. In addition, the team’s work assignments were also further detailed to allow members to recognize their own work, showing that their team operated in a very principled and harmonious manner. In the course of the competition, member Michael Petzl said that communication and understanding with the task masters was the biggest difficulty, because of the logic of the region and the accent, sometimes they were not clear about the rules of the level, but this also added to the fun of the competition.

As for the impression of Taiwan, member Elma Besic said that Taiwan is much more humid and hot compared to Austria, and they also unanimously said that they like Taiwan’s convenience stores the most, whenever they see a convenience store on the road, they will go in and around a few times because they have air-conditioning, which makes them feel very comfortable, and Adrian Ernst even joked that 70% of their photos are at Shih Hsin University, 2% are on the streets of Taiwan, and the remaining 28% are at Taiwan’s convenience stores. Adrian Ernst joked that 70% of their photos were taken at Shih Hsin University, 2% were taken on the streets of Taiwan, and the remaining 28% were taken at convenience stores in Taiwan.

No Kangaroos, who traveled from Austria to Taiwan, are not afraid of any challenges, and hope that through the Ironman Creative Competition, they can break conventional thinking and open up innovative horizons, and in the future, we can see them lights-out in different places.
