The main task of Intelligent Ironman Creativity Contest this year was about designing a wings exhibition for a specific theme. It must present in both real object and abstract display. Unlike “War museum” or “Intelligent Machine” of past years in specific theme, the topic challenged the teams’ creative thinking abilities.

“Creative should be more like thinking and imagination. If they really make wings, I don’t know how higher the score will they get. If they associate the wings with flying, or even the Greek God with wings, or some creatures of sea with wings, and to conclude it in something, it will make the judges feel like out of their imaginations,” said Liu Ko-Fei, the professor of IICC.

He added, “So we said something that was associated with the wings could be a real object, a symbol, status, fortune or a dynasty. People sighed when the saw the wings in the past. But now we feel that we are flying faster than it. So the wings could be in different explanation.”

In order to present the main project in real object and abstract display, many teams used sound and light, electricity, mechanics, digital images to show their concept of wings. The team members associated it with angel, myths, cultures, and even dreams and freedoms. They also combined wings with flying machine, furniture and city, expressed the idea of human being desires the anti-gravity power.

“We based on a painting to present our journey of pursuing our dreams. Some experiences we have to explore , and we also need motivations,” said Peng, Yen-Ling, from team “Yes! Yep? Okay!”. “We redefined the concept of wings, when we saw the wings, we thought it should be used in flying. But we think that prosthesis could be count as wings. For those with disabilities, they were like flying over their obstacles when they put on prosthesis,” said Chen, Yi-Hsuan from team “ICIC”.

Although many teams thought that the main project this year was very abstract and difficult, they still overcame the difficulties of without inspiration, quarrel, and even redo during the process. They eventually tried their best in evaluation criteria. Hopefully IICC this year also brought them the wings to let them pursue their dreams boldly. (by Kee Kei Wai and Ming Ting Chek)
